Chapter Books vs. Chapter eBooks: Less Fun vs. More Fun

The difference between a printed chapter book and a chapter ebook series is the difference between night and day – less fun vs. more fun! You might be wondering if there are any chapter books in e-book format for your kids to read. On DaVinchy.com, yes. But on Amazon, which just announced sales of ebooks now exceeds printed books, the answer is not really. Alas, as of this post, Amazon only sells three black and white, not well-known ebooks.

Why? Because kids don’t have digital reading devices? They do have computers! The real answer is the publishing world hasn’t learned how create kids chapter books in ebook form. They are stuck in a world that revolves around the printing press.

Amazon’s Kindle, if you think about it, seems like a book reader from 1950. C’mon – it’s a black and white device!?! But look at your child’s computer or the iPad. YES! – COLOR! IT”S 2010. Both these devices bring a colorful, fun, up-to-date fun digital EXPERIENCE.

I’m not knocking Kindle. Most books are black and white. But I can tell you, kids won’t love reading in boring black and white on these super-charged computers that they’re experiencing full-color, action-packed video games on. Black and white on a computer makes no sense! It has no pizazz for kids. Did you notice the COLOR Winnie the Pooh books in the iPad TV ads? Apple gets it.

Our kids would love it if any and every chapter book were in color with lots of pictures. But in a printed book format, color pictures mean color printing  and expensive. You couldn’t afford to buy a color chapter books. Imagine buying 50 Goosebump books that cost $19.99 each? Too much!

But with digital devices, color is now affordable. For example, we sell our DaVinchy Chapter Book Series for $5.99 a piece or two for $9.99. Heck we even give you a free kids ebook, well…a free chapter ebook…to prove it!

So the DaVinchy Chapter eBook Series is your source of fun, color, action packed ebooks for kids. Other publishers will come soon. They know kids want more color, more fun, more action-packed reading experiences. Text books have been moving in this direction for the past 15 years. That’s how long we’ve been in development on the DaVinchy Chapter Book Series by the way.

So to sum up, chapter books equal black and white are some good wholesome fun. Chapter ebook series in color and full of action equals tons of fun and might even tear your kids away from computer games to get hooked on reading!
